I Got a New Job

I made a post about me resigning. Well, i just got a job offer. I will start in the middle of August. Kinda excited, kinda nervous since i have no experience in this field whatsoever, this is my 2nd real job and i want to have less mistakes than before and be a good employee so that i get those monthly bonuses!! I will be working in a BPO company by the way.

Why i got a job already?

After i resigned, I thought to myself, “I should take this 1st week of unemployment as a chill week, dont find a job yet and just chill out.”. Yeah, i was surprised that was not what i did. I wanted to find another job. This first week of being unemployed become hectic. My job was to find a job. Through monday to thursday, i applied once a day to a company on-site.Maybe since i have work in a physically demanding job, and my coworkers being diligent and full of energy, it rubbed off me, in a way that i acted as if being still makes me anxious and i interpreted it as “im not making any moves, i am lagging behind”. And with that mindset, out of fear of being unemployed forever, i bust my ass every day, commuting half an hour to an hour and a half, going to their physical office, no background check, no practice, just pure typing speed, quick answers in the Harver exam and bam, i got it. And after a few application, i got a job offer in the consumer technology account, non-voice!

What did this new job offered to me

This new job offered me better pay. I remember the interviewer asking me what is my expected salary, i said “somewhere around 21k”. She offered me a few thousand above that. I was flabbergasted in that moment. I did not know that this position will give me like high percent increase in salary. I felt like im making progress in making good money.

Somewhat aligned to my college course? I think i said it before here, but i graduated in I.T. but i dont use it, or rather, i still have no clue in what knowledge this course could have given me if i paid attention for real in my college days. While im sure there are no coding or computer science gonna be involve in this job, its still an entry level job for an I.T/Tech position and i am glad this company will help me in getting my feet in the door. Hopefully this time i will do some moonlighting and self-studying to become a refined programmer.

What i think would challenge me

Nighshift. I think my time will be nightshift since this company is US-based. While i think i can handle it slowly, im getting old. I would probably look older than before since my body clock is so different than it should be. But this is worth it for the money that i will be getting. Ofcourse the experience is worth it too. And since it is nightshift, i have to be earlier to go there since there is an incentive in being on time and not being absent… but there is another challenge that would really test that.

Commute. I will be commuting to the on-site setting. There is no work from home offers in this company, which is such ashame. To be honest, commuting will be a pain since i calculated that it will take me an hour to go there, and i want those hours to work for me. So that is one thing that i do not want since before, my job is walking distance, and after a few rides towards the site, boy i can feel the jetlag that these worker feels. I am not built for commuting, but i hope i can manage.

The job itself. Since i have no expeirence in this line of work, i fear that the first few weeks will be a harsh hit to myself, my ego and hopefully i bounce back and be a good Tech Representative after this.

Conclusion

This week seems long, to be honest. It felt like i was unemployed for a few months. And thankfully i have a job now, that will provide me some savings and a bit of leisure. I am thankful to the prior company i have been with since they gave me a chance. I made friends there and also learned a lot about the work culture, professionalism and competency. I hope i can bring what i learned there and use it in my next ventures. Let’s gooooooo!(imma enjoy these unemployment day!)
